Joseph Clarke to officiate at upcoming Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open Badminton tournament

Jamaica’s highest ranked Badminton official Joseph Clarke will create history by becoming the first Jamaican to umpire at the upcoming Yonex Sunrise Hong Kong Open Badminton tournament.

The tournament which runs from November 21 to 26, comes a little over a year since he officiated at the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Clarke who first created history as Jamaica’s first internationally accredited Umpire in 1997 has since blazed an impressive trail. In 1999 he went on to become the first Jamaican to achieve the level of Pan Am certified umpire.

Meanwhile the tournament in Hong Kong offers a cash prize of four hundred thousand dollars and is part of the Badminton World Federation Super Series.
