by March 29th, 2022

The Jamaica Teachers Association, JTA and the Education Ministry are expected to meet tomorrow (March 30) to address the issue of outstanding payment for teachers.

President of the Association, Winston Smith told Irie FM News yesterday (March 28), that scores of teachers have reportedly not received retroactive salaries owed to them for the last financial year and summer school payments, among other things.

He said with the rising cost of food and other items, many teachers are struggling to make ends meet.

In an update today (March 29), Mr. Smith said the Education Ministry has agreed to a meeting with the association tomorrow.

He is hopeful that it will be fruitful.
