JTA calls for dispute resolution programmes

President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association, Owen Speid is reporting that assaults on teachers have been increasing in recent times.

 

Speaking in an interview with Irie FM News, Mr. Speid said there have been several attacks on teachers by both students and parents.

 

 

He said the ministry and stakeholders need to implement programmes to alleviate some of the issues with dispute resolution at all levels.

 

 

Meantime, the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) has described as unfortunate an incident at the Pembroke hall high school in St. Andrew yesterday during which a student was reportedly threatened by a female teacher.

 

The incident which was captured on camera, has gone viral on several social media platforms.

 

The administration of the Pembroke Hall high school has launched an investigation into the matter.

 

Speaking in an interview with Irie FM News this morning, JTA President Owen Speid, condemned the incident, noting that the behaviour displayed is unfortunate.

 

 

Mr. Speid said the jta will be launching its own probe into the matter.
