by October 1st, 2019

The President of the Jamaica Teachers’ Association (JTA) is expressing concern about the number of children who have contracted and died from dengue fever in recent weeks.

Owen Speid says the number of cases observed in schools across the island have increased drastically recently, and that the issue is not being given enough attention.

Mr. Speid is calling on the Ministry of Health and wellness to ramp up activities to eradicate  the mosquito population.

He says a more effective public education campaign is needed to address the issue.
