Jamaica Teachers‘ Association, JTA President, Winston Smith says the directive from the Education Ministry for the mandatory wearing of masks in schools is in line with the association’s position.
School administrators have been reporting an increase in suspected and confirmed Covid-19 cases among staff and students, as the country experiences a fifth wave of infections.
The guidelines to be followed by all staff and students cover the external examination period.
Mr. Smith told Irie Fm News that wearing of masks, allows for added protection in the teaching learning process.
Mr smith says the JTA is mindful of the importance of having school doors open for as long as possible.
