President of the Jamaica Teacher’s Association, J-T-A, Jasford Gabriel says the education sector should be ready for another year of remote learning if it receives the requisite resources.

His comments come as Covid-19 cases and hospitalisations continue to rise.

Speaking with Irie Fm News, Mr. Gabriel says teachers and students will need to be provided with laptops and tablets to ensure efficient remote learning.

He says the sector will also have to look at the implementing of good connectivity in a number of communities and schools.

Mr. Gabriel says the J-T-A has partnered with Flow in the training of some 1,500 teachers, to better facilitate the eventuality of another year of online learning.

He added that though the current situation with the virus is worse than the corresponding period last year, they have been employing every effort to prepare for whatsoever the Health Ministry decides come September.
