by November 9th, 2018

Supreme Court judge Vivienne Harris has warned jurors at the murder trial of Constable Collis “Chucky” Brown, not to speculate in the case.

She began making her summation to the jury, today (Nov 9).

Brown who is facing three counts of murder, is accused of being a member of a police death squad, but he has denied the allegations.

The police constable has been on trial in the Home Circuit court for the last five weeks.

Justice Harris told the jurors, that their verdict must be based on the evidence presented in court.

She warned them not to have any sympathy, bias, or prejudice for the accused, victims, or anyone.

Brown, in giving an unsworn statement at his trial, denied committing the murders.

He is on trial for the murder of Robert “Gutty” Dawkins in January 2009 in Palmers Cross, Clarendon and for the December 2012 murders of Dwayne Douglas and Andrew Fearon in Clarendon.

The crown led evidence that Brown, who has been in custody since 2014, had given an interview to Indecom, outlining how the extra-judicial killings were carried-out, by a special squad of which he was a member.

The judge will continue her summation next Monday.

The verdict is expected next week.
