KC drops 4x100m at Penn Relays

Record eight time champions Kingston College will not be fielding a team for the 4×100 meters relays as the 126th running of the Penn Relays enters its second day at the Franklin field Stadium in Philadelphia

This is owing to a number of factors including injuries to key members as well as passport issues.

Head coach at Kingston college Leeford Grant made the revelation to Irie Fm sports last evening.

Meanwhile the first Championship of America decider on the girls side will be the 4×800 meters and it features defending champions Holmwood Technical and Edwin Allen – This will run off at 2.55 Jamaica time this afternoon.

This will be followed by the 4×100 meters championship decider that will feature the red hot Edwin Allen who enters the event with the fastest time of 44.64 seconds and Hydel second fastest with 46.37. also set to feature are Holmwood Technical Immaculate, St Jago and St Catherine.

Then at 4.05 favorites Hydel high with the fastest time of 3 minutes 39.34 seconds in the preliminaries will come up against the likes of Edwin Allen, Holmwood, St Jago and Excelsior in the 4×400 meters championship race.

St Jago will be the first Jamaican team in action this morning when they contest the first heat of the 4×800 meters at 8am Jamaica time – Jamaica College and Calabar will contest heat two at 8.12 while Kingston College will contest heat three at 8.25.

Among the schools to take to the track for the 4×100 meters heats starting around 12 noon are Edwin Allen, Calabar, Camperdown, Excelsior, favourites Jamaica College, Herbert Morrison, Petersfield, Rhodes Hall, St Catherine, and Wolmers Boys.

GC Foster College will then contest the heats of the college 4×100 meters at 12.35.
