by November 13th, 2018

Reggae Boyz defender Kemar Lawrence has been named on the MLS Best XI for 2018.

Lawrence, in his 4th season with the Red Bulls, played a career high 28 games while helping New York to a league low 33 goals en-route to posting the best season in MLS history with a record 71 points.

He made his Reggae Boyz debut against Trinidad & Tobago in November 2013 and has gone on to win 45 senior caps. He now joins Andre Blake (2016) and Donovan Ricketts (2010) in the MLS Best 11 in recent years.

This year’s Best XI lines up in an offensive-minded 3-4-3 formation. Overall the squad boasts 123 goals between them this season, which is 53 more than Atlanta scored this year as the league’s most productive offensive side.

Also in the Best XI are goalkeeper Zack Stephens, Chad Marshall, Aaron Long, Carlos Vela, Ignacio Piatti, Miguel Almiron, Luciano Acosta, Wayne Rooney, Josef Martinez and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Gerardo “Tata” Martino, coach of Reggae Boy Romario Williams at Atlanta United, has been named MLS Coach of The Year.

Lawrence, in the meantime, is amongst the players called to the national squad for the upcoming game against Suriname on Saturday, November 17th at the Montego Bay Sports Complex.

The squad will assemble in Montego Bay on Wednesday with a scheduled training session on Thursday.
