Koffee shortlisted for Prime Minister’s Youth Award

Grammy-nominated reggae sensation Koffee has been shortlisted among 87 young people, who will be recognized at the annual Prime Minister’s Youth Awards for Excellence ceremony in Jamaica.

Born Mikayla Simpson, Koffee received a nomination in the Arts and Culture category, for her outstanding contribution to the field.

The Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Excellence, the highest award attainable for young people in Jamaica, recognizes young Jamaicans who have excelled and contributed to national development across their respective fields.

Since its inception in 1998, over 300 young people between the ages of 15-29, have been conferred with the honor. Koffee joins, Romain Virgo 2013, Chronixx, and dancer Kool Ravers in 2017, as reggae/dancehall entertainers who have copped a nomination, and ultimately the coveted honor.

The Prime Minister’s Youth Award for Excellence ceremony is scheduled to take place this Saturday, November 30, on the lawns of Jamaica House.
