Kohli retains top spot on ICC Test Batting Rankings

Indian captain Virat Kohli has retained his position as the number one batsman on the ICC Test Rankings after accumulating a career high 937 rating points after innings of 46 and 58 in the fourth Test against England at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

Kohli, who is 11th on the list of best ever in terms of rating points, leads the rankings ahead of Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, David Warner and Joe Root.

Kraigg Brathwaite at number 12 is the highest placed West Indian while Sam Curran moved up 29 places to 43 after producing crucial knocks of 78 and 46 to lead England to victory over India in Southampton.

And, while he did end up on the losing side, Cheteshwar Pujara’s 132* in the Indian first innings helped him move to 798 points and stay put at sixth place on the batsmen’s rankings.

Over on the rankings for bowlers, England’s James Anderson is still number one and is followed by Kagiso Rabada (South Africa and Ravindra Jadeja (India).

Vernon Philander (South Africa) and Pat Cummins (Australia) round out the top 5.

Shannon Gabriel (11), Jason Holder (13) and Kemar Roach (20), are the West Indians inside the top 20.
