KSAMC to embark of public education campaign about amusement licence

by February 18th, 2018

The Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation (KSAMC) will be embarking on a public education campaign to outline the various procedures that should be adhered to when applying for an amusement licence.

This is part of a drive to clamp down on unauthorized events in the area.

The matter was discussed at the recent monthly meeting of the KSAMC.

Councillor for the Havendale Division, Vernon McLeod, says churches which want to stage street-side meetings and couples, who want to celebrate a wedding reception, are among those being urged to apply for an amusement licence.

Pointing to last month’s traffic pile-up due to a party on the Palisadoes roadway, Mr. McLeod says the corporation has noticed that there is a lack of compliance to regulations in the Amusement Act.

Mr. McLeod adds that the public education drive  is not about revenue for the corporation, but to prevent un-permitted events, which often times cause disruption in the municipality.
