Labour Ministry intervenes in impasse at Troja Primary

by September 4th, 2018

The Labour Ministry has intervened in the impasse between ancillary workers and the administration of the Troja Primary and Junior High School, in St. Catherine.

The workers withdrew their services yesterday, and continued their strike today (Sep 4), over the non-appointment of the cook to the position.

The union representing the workers says an agreement had been reached in May this year, for the cook to be confirmed, however to date, he has not received a letter of appointment.

Island Supervisor at the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union, George Nicholas wrote to the Labour Ministry, asking for their assistance in the matter.

He says the Labour Ministry is trying to arrange a meeting with the disputing parties.

It’s understood that the school had to order lunch for the students yesterday and today.
