by April 13th, 2023

Opposition Member of Parliament, Julian Robinson, has suggested that the cyber-crimes act be amended, to allow for the prosecution of persons who share gruesome images of traffic crashes.

Speaking at the joint select committee reviewing the cyber-crimes act, yesterday (April 12), Mr. Robinson said the provision that covers the sharing of intimate images without consent should be expanded.

He noted that the images oftentimes cause distress to the families of the persons involved.

The suggestion was supported by committee member Kavan Gayle.

Chairman Daryl Vaz also agreed that the issue of persons sharing gruesome images of people in accidents is concerning and needs to be addressed in legislation.
