Former champions Bayern Munich are down to meet beaten 2017 finalists Liverpool in the headline fixture of the Champions League Last 16.

Premier League champions Manchester City and Tottenham also face Bundesliga sides, with City meeting Schalke and Spurs taking on Borussia Dortmund.

Struggling Manchester United in the meantime face a tough draw against French champions Paris St. Germain.

No team can play against another from their own country until the quarter-final stage. The 16 teams were split into two pots, one for those who finished in first place and one for those who finished second.

That meant United, Tottenham and Liverpool were all left facing the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus.

The first legs will take place on February 12-13 and 19-20 with the return fixtures on March 5-6 and 12-13.

Group winners will be away from home in the first legs.

Madrid, who have won the competition for three years in a row, will play Ajax. Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid take on Juventus, Barcelona go up against Lyon and last season’s semi-finalists Roma play Porto.

The final will be held in Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano on June 1.
