The long-awaited legislation relating to bail was tabled in the lower house today (October 5) by Minister of Legal and Constitutional Affairs Marlene Malahoo Forte.

The minister noted that the new act has several features aimed at creating a balance between individual freedom and public safety.

Mrs. Malahoo Forte noted that the new act outlines 3 stages of bail.

She added that the new bail law also provides for the wearing of an electronic bracelet.
