Lottery scammers charged

Seven persons arrested last week in western Jamaica for involvement in lottery scamming have been charged.

They were arrested on Saturday October 7, following operations by detectives attached to the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) police mobile reserve, the JDF, and agents from the Financial Investigations Division.

During the operations, several premises in Farm Hill and Farm Heights in St. James, as well as premises in Bethel Town, Logwood and Coral Springs in Westmoreland were searched.

The searches resulted in a number of items used in lottery scamming being seized.

The identities of those charged have not been released.
