MAJ recommends safety factors to guide further relaxation of Covid-19 containment measures, as cases continue to decline

As the number of Covid-19 cases, deaths and hospitalizations continue to decline, the Medical Association of Jamaica, MAJ is recommending consideration of several factors that should guide the further relaxation of containment measures.

Speaking with Irie Fm News, MAJ President, Dr. Brian James said the wave caused by the Omicron variant appears is be coming to an end.

He said as Jamaica slowly returns to normal operations, strategies which ensure safety should be employed.

He said vaccination efforts must continue and the immune status of Jamaicans must be considered.

Dr. James said whatever approach is taken, should help further curb the spread of the virus.
