by August 16th, 2022

A major multi-agency operation aimed at restoring law and order to the streets of the second city got underway in Montego Bay St. James, yesterday (August 15).

Operations Officer for the St. James police, Superintendent Eron Samuels says the initiative called “Operation Restore Paradise … A Public Order Reset” will run for two weeks.

He notes that there is lawlessness across the country, as it relates to vending in no vending areas, and taxi operators picking up and dropping off passengers in areas which are not designated for such activities.

Superintendent Samuels indicates that these actions do not allow for proper policing of the areas.

A similar initiative was undertaken in 2019.

Superintendent Samuels says thirteen agencies are involved in the operation.
