by January 21st, 2022

A joint police-military operation targeting criminals was carried out by the St. Ann police today.

The operation began at around 11 AM and took place at Bengal- which is the border between St. Ann and Trelawny.

Approximately 60 personnel from the constabulary, in addition to members of the Transport Authority and Jamaica Defense Force, were on site.

Speaking in an interview with Irie FM News, Officer in Charge of Operations for Area 2, Superintendent David White noted that the aim of the operation was to capture persons travelling across the border with illicit items.

He noted that this is the second such operation being carried out by the St. Ann police since the start of the new year.

Superintendent White said the objective is to reduce murders and other major crimes.

Meanwhile, Operations Officer for St. Ann, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kevin Francis noted that last week’s operations led to several arrests and prosecutions.
