A man is dead and his child is being treated at hospital, following an incident in Brown’s Hall, St. Catherine, last night (September 7).

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Preliminary reports are that the man took his child away from her home, and opened fire on the police, before escaping into bushes with the toddler.

Hours later his body was found with gunshot wounds and the child was found covered in blood.

She was reportedly shot in the abdomen.

Head of the St. Catherine North Police Division, Senior Superintendent Howard Chambers, told Irie FM News that the incident started as a domestic dispute.

SSP Chambers said the team waited overnight to continue their search for the suspect, whose body was found this morning (September 8).
