A man employed as a safety manager at a construction site at a popular St. Ann hotel, was shot dead this afternoon (Feb 16).

The identity of the man –who hails from St. James – is being withheld until relatives have been notified.

Police have confirmed the incident but have not yet provided details.

However, Irie FM News understands that about 2:00 p.m. the man was standing at the bus stop, across the road from the work site in Mammee Bay, when a white car drove up.

Further reports are that a gunman alighted from the vehicle and opened fire, hitting the safety manager twice in the head, before escaping in the waiting motorcar.

The wounded man was rushed to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
