The Westmoreland Police are commending the parent of a 5-year-old girl who was sexually assaulted allegedly by her older brother, for her quick action in reporting the matter.

There were concerns that the woman’s 2 year old granddaughter may have been molested, however according to her medical checks revealed this was not the case.

The accused man fled the community, but was apprehended by police yesterday (April 12).

Acting Head of the Division, Senior Superintendent Wayne Joseph is urging other parents, to be just as vigilant.

He said the accused man will be charged, after investigators put together their case.

Meantime, the Westmoreland woman, whose young daughter was allegedly sexually assaulted by her son, has expressed appreciation to the police and residents who assisted in his capture.

The man was held yesterday.

The woman in expressing gratitude, urged other parents to be vigilant.
