Manchester United confirm Bruno Fernandes deal

by January 29th, 2020

Manchester United have agreed a deal to sign Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon.

United will pay an initial fee of around £47 million pounds for the 25-year-old, though add-ons could increase the overall cost to £67.6 million.

The move is subject to a medical and the agreement of personal terms.

United have been in negotiations with Sporting throughout the transfer window but made a breakthrough yesterday amid reports of interest from Barcelona.

It is expected Fernandez will board a private jet to Manchester where he will undergo his United medical underway tomorrow.

After weeks of negotiations, United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward brokered an agreement that will see the club pay an initial fee of €55m (£46.56m) plus add-ons.

Sporting will receive a further €10m (£8.46m) from United if Fernandes reaches what are considered easily achievable targets and an additional €15m (£12.7m) if more difficult targets are met. It is understood these clauses include Fernandes winning the Ballon d’Or.
