Massive roadblock in Linstead

by December 9th, 2015

Some two hundred St Catherine residents have mounted roadblocks in Linstead, calling for better roads and piped water in their communities.

The residents who are from the Time and Patience, Bynloss, Mcgrath Road and Treadways communities have used stones, tree trunks and other debris to block the roadway in the vicinity of the Linstead bypass, and the Bynloss and Ewarton roadways.

Vehicles attempting to exit the new toll road onto the Linstead roadway have been unable to do so because of the roadblocks.

It’s understood that this created a pile up of traffic with some motorists turning back.

Some ten police personnel are reportedly on the scene in the vicinity of the toll road.

One Bynloss resident who gives her name as Nola, says the residents are fed-up with the situation.

In the meantime, councillor for the Treadways Division  Sydney Rose, in addressing the residents says he has made representation to the relevant government agencies with plans afoot to improve the roadway.
