Mayor Davis: promoters must have CCTV at events

by October 26th, 2018

St. James based promoters staging medium to large entertainment events during the Christmas holidays, will have to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras at the venues of their events.

According to Chairman of the Municipal Corporation and Mayor of Montego Bay Homer Davis, these CCTV cameras must be installed to assist the police and other government agencies, in the event an incident occurs at these facilities.

He said the installation of CCTV at amusement events will provide a real-time account of a fire or other incidents that may occur at these venues.

When asked how the corporation and the police are preparing to handle pushback that will come with the new regulations placed on event promoters, Mayor Davis said, the protection of life and property is invaluable, and having CCTV cameras could be a positive for promoters.

He was speaking at a joint press conference today (Oct 26), which included the police,  health department, and the fire department, on how entertainment events will be handled during the upcoming festive season.
