Representatives from the Clarendon Municipal Corporation, led by Mayor Winston Maragh, today (Oct 2) visited the family and schoolmates of the child who drowned in flood waters yesterday.

Dead is 6 year old Dajahne Pennant of Oliver Gardens, May Pen, Clarendon

Mayor Maragh told Irie FM News that the corporation assured the child’s family of support.

He said young Dajahne attended Hastings Academy, but was not well known.

Meanwhile, the team from the corporation, accompanied by engineers, representatives from the Labour Ministry and representatives from the Clarendon Health Department, conducted a tour of the areas in May Pen, affected by yesterday’s flooding.

Mayor Maragh said at the area in Mt. Claire, where little Dajahne was washed away, the team determined that the drain was inadequate to hold the high volume of flood water.

He reported that the walls of premises belonging to 2 residents had collapsed.
