Medical doctor found guilty of corruption

Medical doctor Jephthah Ford has been found guilty of corruption.

The verdict was handed down in the Kingston and St. Andrew parish court today (Aug 17).

He is to be sentenced on August 22.

Dr. Ford was facing two counts of attempting to pervert the course of justice after two Surinamese men were held with US $533,000 (Ja $55 m) during a police operation along Half-Way Tree road, in St. Andrew in 2014.

Ford reportedly offered a police officer millions of dollars to drop the case and release the evidence.
