Medical doctors brace for expected Covid surge due to possible presence of Omicron variant

by December 23rd, 2021

The islands medical doctors are bracing for impact with the expected surge in Covid cases next month, following reports of the possible presence of the Omicron variant.

The concern also stems from expected protocol breaches over the holiday period and the Health Ministry’s projection of about 1,500 cases per day, starting in January.

President of the Medical Association of Jamaica Dr. Brian James told Irie FM News that the plan of action for the expected fourth wave includes urging persons to obey the protocols.

Dr. James said health care workers are aware that their response to the fourth wave will be similar to what obtained in the previous waves.
