by May 12th, 2017

Ever since a photo of a cop carrying an old lady in St. Ann’s Bay, St. Ann went viral on social media, many have been commending the officer for being a positive reflection of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

This positive view of a member of the force comes amidst other incidents which have also gone viral and drawn condemnation of the actions of the police.

The High Command and the Government have recognised the Good Samaritan cop, who has been identified as Constable Richard Plummer of the St. Ann police Traffic Department.

So, just who is this Good Samaritan cop?

In an interview with Irie FM News, the 42 year old officer describes himself as someone who strives to always present his best self to others.

The St. Ann native, who hails from the rural community of Forrest District in Lumsden, has been a member of the JCF for 13 years.

Constable Plummer attributes his decision to join the police force to the influence of his family, and community members.

The St. Ann cop has high praises for his mother, who instilled in him principles and discipline.

Turning to the now famous photograph, Constable Plummer says on the day in question, he was on traffic duty, issuing a ticket to a motorist for a traffic breach, when he observed 2 ladies struggling to aid an elderly woman walk up the road.

He says he did what any normal, considerate human being would have done – offer to help.

Constable Plummer believes his good deed, and its positive reactions, have served to boost the morale of the police force.

He hails Commanding Officer for the St. Ann Police Superintendent Gary Francis, for being a positive role model and leader of the men and women in the division.

Superintendent Francis says Constable Plummer’s now famous good deed will count among other attributes, whenever the time comes for officers to be considered for promotion to Corporal.
