MET office issues Flash Flood Watch and Warning for several parishes

The Meteorological Service has issued a flash flood warning for low-lying and flood-prone areas of st. Mary, Portland, St. Thomas, Kingston and St. Andrew, St. Catherine, and Clarendon.

Meanwhile, a flash flood watch has been issued for low-lying and flood-prone areas of Manchester, St. Elizabeth, and Westmoreland.

The advisories are effective until 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.

A flash flood warning means flooding has been reported or will occur shortly, while a flash flood watch means that flash flooding is possible and residents are advised to take precautionary measures.

Tropical storm Ian is currently located 390 kilometres south-southwest of Negril point, Jamaica.

It is expected to move southwest of Jamaica on Sunday and be across the northwestern Caribbean by Monday.

Its outer bands have been producing adverse weather conditions across Jamaica since Saturday afternoon.
