Midnite lead singer Vaughn Benjamin dies at 50

Lead singer Vaughn Benjamin of the Midnite has died at age 50.

Benjamin’s death was confirmed on November 5 through posts on the reggae legend’s Facebook page. Vaughn Benjamin’s cause of death has not been made public.

News of his passing has seen a worldwide response on his social media pages with messages of condolence, tributes, and prayers from family, friends, and fans.

Vaughn Benjamin formed Midnite with his brother Ron Benjamin Jr. in St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands in 1989. The two are the sons of Antiguan music legend, Ron Benjamin.

Midnite released their first album titled “Unpolished” in 1997. The band’s first widely available U.S. release was 1999’s “Ras Mek Peace.”
