Three days after the shocking murder of Donald ‘Tabby Diamond’ Shaw, lead singer of Mighty Diamonds, the legendary Reggae group is in mourning yet again, following the death of bandmate Fitzroy ‘Bunny Diamond’ Simpson.

Music News understands that Bunny Diamond passed away Friday morning after a long battle with diabetes.

Entertainer Paul Elliott tells us more. 

The Mighty Diamonds band is known for a slew of hits which include songs such as “Pass the Kuchie”, “Right Time’ and “Have Mercy”.

The group which was formed in December 1969 in Kingston, comprised of lead singer Tabby, and Harmony Vocalists Fitzroy “Bunny” Simpson and Lloyd ‘Judge’ Ferguson.

They became friends at school in the mid-1960s and were originally called the Limelight, adopting ‘Mighty Diamonds’ after Shaw’s mother started referring to them as “The Diamonds”.

Their debut album, “Right Time”, still stands as one of roots reggae’s all-time classics, and “Pass the Kouchie” which was released in 1981 remains a hit today.

Bunny Diamond was 71 years old.

Judge Diamond is the only living member of the mighty diamonds.
