Minister Gets The Blame

Health Minister, Dr Fenton Ferguson has lashed out against those who criticised his handling of the country’s health sector, arguing that he is being blamed for all the negatives that has comes out of the health sector.

Dr Ferguson has come under immense pressure since news broke three weeks ago, about the deaths of 19 premature babies from an outbreak of bacterial infection at two health facilities.

He also received flak for his handling of the Chik V outbreak last year, and other ills in health sector.

Speaking in St James yesterday (November 06, 2015), Dr. Ferguson said he has been ridiculed for the Chik V outbreak, the hand foot and mouth disease and in most recent times the death of 19 premature babies.

 

 

Dr. Ferguson expressed sympathy to the families for their loss adding that the Ministry of Health take steps to ensure that this does not happen again.

 

 

He was speaking yesterday at a ground-breaking ceremony for the construction a cancer treatment centre in Montego Bay, St James yesterday.

Meanwhile, Dr Ferguson will take up his post as minister of labour and social security on Monday after Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller announced a cabinet reshuffle yesterday.

The Prime Minister said she listened to the recent discussions and expressions of concern.

Many have called for the sacking of the Health Minister.
