Police have confirmed that the body of a missing eight year old girl was found in a section of Sterling Castle Heights, St. Andrew today (Apl 16).

The child, Shantae Skyers, went missing last Thursday, April 11.

A search party led by the St. Andrew North police, found the child’s body amongst rubble in an area known as Blue Hole this morning.

The police, family and community members, had been searching several sites in the community since Friday, April 12, without success.

The search intensified today, when the Caribbean Search Centre, the canine division and the Jamaica Defence force joined the effort.

A high alert had been activated earlier this week for the eight-year-old girl.

Investigators have identified a suspect in the matter and are pursuing leads.

Support is being offered to the child’s family by the JCF’s Community Safety and Security Branch and the Victim Support Unit.
