Mohammad Salah to miss Liverpool UCL return leg semi-final vs Barcelona

by May 6th, 2019

Liverpool has received a huge setback to their hopes of overturning a 3-0 first-leg deficit in their Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona.

It comes with news that star forwards Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino will both miss Tuesday’s return leg at Anfield due to injury.

Salah, who is suffering from a concussion, was stretchered off after being involved in aerial collision with Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka during Saturday’s dramatic 3-2 win at St. James’ Park.

Firmino is still recovering from a muscle injury that saw him miss the game against Newcastle.

The Brazilian was replaced in the starting team by Daniel Sturridge and was already confirmed out of the Barcelona game, but Salah’s absence compounds the difficulty of the task for Jurgen Klopp’s side, who need to win 4-0 to advance.

Klopp, meanwhile, is confident Salah will be able to play in Liverpool’s final Premier League game of the season against Wolverhamptons at Anfield on Sunday, where the Reds could win the title for the first time since 1990.
