Momentum high for Marcus Garvey Celebration

Spoken Word Poet, Educator, Journalist, and Community Activist, El Jones is in high spirits as she preps for IRIE FM’s Marcus Garvey Celebration.

Commemorating its 28th year, the annual celebration in honor of Jamaica’s first national hero is this year dubbed, “One Africa, One Nation”.

El Jones who is slated to perform and deliver a speech in the IRIE FM Courtyard on Sunday, August 18, is urging young people to come out and support the educational celebration.

Other special guests include main speaker Dr. David Muhammad, Trinidad, and Eastern Caribbean representative of the Honourable Minister Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for IRIE FM’s Marcus Garvey Celebration slated to take place at its usual home in the IRIE FM Courtyard, in Ocho Rios, St. Ann.

Renowned for uplifting tributes and positive vibes, the Marcus Garvey Celebration will feature the likes of South African Praise Poet, Singer, and actress Jessica Mbageni, Bungo Herman, The Kingston Drummers, Ras I-vi and the Nyabinghi Drummers, Earl Chinna Smith and the Binghistra, Chezidek, Prophecy, Sativa Di Black One, Mixing Lab, Jah-Don, Hero, Lutan Fyah, Bugle and others.

The Marcus Garvey Celebration will run from 6 am 10 pm on Sunday, August 18, with a live outside broadcast on the 107s and a live stream on iriefm.net.
