More entertainers stand up for Cockpit Country

Dancehall deejays Bounty Killer and Spragga Benz have joined Queen Ifrica who has been using her social media platform in the ongoing fight for the preservation of Jamaica’s Cockpit Country.

Queen Ifrica who has always used her voice and her music to impact change; is calling for all entertainers to join the fight for the preservation of the cockpit country.

The issue of mining in the Cockpit Country has been a sore point for many stakeholders including environmentalists and community members, who have objected to the area being opened up to Bauxite Mining, despite assurances from the government that no mining will take place.

Bounty Killer has lent his voice to the cause with a strong message to Prime Minister Andrew Holness. According to the Poor People Governor, “ANY GOVERNMENT SELL OUT THE COCKPIT SHALL NEVER WIN AGAIN IN JAMAICA. I’M NOT A JLP NOR A PNP. I’M A TRUE JAMAICAN.”

Meanwhile, fellow dancehall deejay Spragga Benz via Instagram asked, “Are you willing to stand up for Jamaica? Urging his followers to sign a petition to preserve the Cockpit Country and Maroon lands in Jamaica.
