More guns and ammunition seized

26 firearms, 641 rounds of ammunition, multiple magazines and a silencer have been seized in the last 24 hours following an operation which began yesterday (Oct 3) morning.

 

This includes today’s (Oct 4) seizure of sixteen 9 mm pistols, 16 magazines and one 9 mm round of ammunition at the Kingston Wharves.

 

The weapons were recovered during a joint operation by the Contraband Enforcement Team (CET), the Counter Terrorism and Organized Crime Investigations Branch (CTOC) and the Jamaica Constabulary Force Narcotics Division.

 

Yesterday, ten firearms and more than 600 rounds of ammunition were seized at the container terminal.

 

Four persons, including two women were arrested in connection with yesterday’s seizure.

 

Police reports are that about 5:30 p.m. a joint operation was carried out at Kingston Wharves and the ten weapons: one sub-machine gun, and nine 9 mm hand-guns, as well as 640 assorted rounds, and one silencer were seized.

 

Preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons and ammunition were shipped to Jamaica, from the United States America.

 

The operations and investigations continue.
