Jamaica has surpassed the one million mark in doses of COVID-19 vaccines administered.

The government had set the target for November 30. It was achieved as the country continued its vaccination programme with blitz operations at several sites across the island Saturday and Sunday.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton says reaching this goal shows that the targets set by the government can be achieved.

Dr. Tufton says the aim is now to get as many Jamaicans as possible vaccinated.

Jamaica is currently administering three vaccines to the population – AstraZeneca, Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson, all of which have been authorized by the World Health Organization.

As at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the country distributed a total of 1 million 455 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines; of this number 553,341 were first doses; 391,782-second doses and 55,333 of

the single-dose vaccine.
