More tributes for Luton Shelton

Tributes continue to pour out for former national striker Luton Shelton who passed away on Friday.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness in a post on social media said that Shelton’s story has been an inspiration to all of us, while expressing deep condolences to Luton’s wife, children and family.

In an official statement Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport Olivia Grange expressed deep sadness, sharing that she was hoping he would have made a turn around although this illness was one that was a great challenge. Grange who said she will personally miss Luton, described him as one of Jamaica’s most successful footballers.

Meanwhile, members of the entertainment fraternity continue to send messages of R.I.P and condolences on social media. Beenie Man, Cham, DingDong, Serani, Kiprich, Nesbeth, Anthony B, Rohan Marley, Razor B producer Skatta Burrell, and Wayne Marshall who wrote a heart-warming tribute on his official Instagram page, are among those who have reacted to the passing of Jamaica’s all time leading goal scorer, Luton Shelton.

Luton Shelton who made his international debut for Jamaica in 2004, scoring 35 goals between then and 2013, was diagnosed with ALS in 2017.

He was found unresponsive at his home in Kingston on Friday, and died after being rushed to the hospital. He was 35 years old.
