Member of Parliament for St Elizabeth South Western, Floyd Green is urging residents to work with the police to help keep communities in the parish safe.

There have been several incidents of violence in the parish recently.

In the latest incident, which occurred in Spring Park, Black River on Friday, 38-year-old bar operator Marlon Gager from the community and 34-year-old Samantha Johnson from Spanish Town, St. Catherine were shot and killed. Two other persons were shot and wounded.

Noting that the parish is not generally known to be a murder hotspot, Mr. Green said things can get worse if residents refuse to share information about criminals with the police.

He urged people not to allow criminals to make the parish unsafe.
