While the Ministry of Culture Gender Entertainment and Sports will be unveiling a statue of the late Lousie Bennett Coverly OM, OJ. The Jamaica Cultural Development Commission will be honouring the Queen Folkorist all month long.

The JCDC plans on staging events in every parish throughout the month of September to celebrate Ms Lou. The celebrations will feature concerts, exhibitions and tributes on Ms Lou.

Speaking with Ka’Bu Maat Kheru on the Africa Forum on Sunday Marjorie Leyden Vernon Director of the Community Cultural Services Division at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission says one day was not enough to revere Ms Lou.

A statue of Ms Lou will be uncovered in Gordon Town Square on Ms Lou’s birthday Friday September 7 at 4pm.
