Murder of St James woman was contract killing

by May 6th, 2018

The St. James police say they have reason to believe that the murder of a woman in the parish last night was a contract killing with an alleged overseas connection.

Police say investigators probing the matter have also indicated that this incident is not connected to the recent gun find in the parish and wishes to dispel that suggestion.

Dead is fifty-seven-year-old Valda Kellier, of Upper Kings Street, Montego Bay.

Ms. Kellier was shot and killed while two other persons were shot and wounded by unknown assailant(s) on Lawrence lane, yesterday.

Reports from the Barnett street police are that about 10: p.m., residents heard explosions and summoned the police.

On their arrival Kellier and the other two persons were seen on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

Kellier was pronounced dead at hospital and the other two admitted in stable condition.
