The world is watching, as the nail-biting race to 270 between Donald Trump and Joe Biden for the presidency of the United States continues, days after the election.

A handful of Jamaican entertainers, including Nadine Sutherland and Dancehall deejay Demarco voted for the first time as US citizens.

Nadine Sutherland, who reveals she supported the Biden/Harris ticket, tells Music News she voted because of Kamala Harris and what she stands for as a woman of Jamaican descent.

Three days after the US election on November 3, the votes are still being counted. At present, Joe Biden is in the lead with 253 college electoral votes, to Donald Trump’s 213.

The winner of the election is determined through a system called the electoral college. Each of the 50 states, plus Washington DC, is given a number of electoral college votes, adding up to a total of 538 votes. A candidate needs to win 270 electoral college votes (50% plus one) to win the election.

Ballots are still being counted in Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania. According to the Associated Press, Joe Biden presently has a small lead in Georgia, Nevada, and Pennsylvania. While Trump has a 50.1% lead in North Carolina.
