by September 4th, 2017

Mystery spinner Sunil Narine is the highest ranked West Indian on the latest release of the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings for One Day International bowlers heading into the upcoming five match ODI series against England.

Narine, who has 662 points, occupies the number 8 spot on the rankings that is being led by Josh Hazlewood of Australia.

South African spinner Imran Tahir and Australian pacer Mitchel Starc complete the top 3.

India’s Jasprit Bumbrah is up 27 places to a career best 4th with Kagiso Rabada 5th.

Windies skipper Jason Holder at 20 is the next highest ranked bowler from the region.

On the batting rankings, India captain Virat Kohli consolidated his position at the top after scoring 330 runs in the 5-0 whitewash over Sri Lanka

Kohli, who made an unbeaten 110 in the last match in Colombo, has increased his lead over Australia’s David Warner from 12 to 26 points and is now on 887 points, a move that sees him equalling the highest ODI rating points by an India batsman which was recorded by Sachin Tendulkar in 1998.

Completing the top 5 are AB de Villiers, Joe Root and Babar Azam.

Marlon Samuels at 43 is the only West Indian batsman inside the top 50.
