National Honours for IRIE FM’s Founding Members

As of October 15, The four founding members of Grove Broadcasting, IRIE FM would have received National Hounours.

IRIE FM’s Bob Clarke is the latest to be enlisted by the Jamaican Government to receive the Order of Distinction in the rank of officer, for his service to the entertainment industry, especially broadcasting.

Last year, IRIE FM’s founding members Clyde McKenzie, and Lloyd Stanbury received the Order of Distinction in the rank of Officer, OD.

In 2010, The late Karl Young, founder of Jamaica’s first all-reggae radio station, IRIE FM, was awarded posthumously in recognition of his pioneering work in the media.

IRIE FM began test transmissions in July 1990 with a heavy bass line and rocking Reggae rhythms. The station officially went on air on August 1, 1990.
