National Young Farmer calls for more help with using advanced technology in farming

by August 5th, 2019

The young woman, who received four top awards at this year’s staging of the Denbigh Agricultural Show, has called on the authorities to provide more advanced, technology based assistance to young farmers.

Diandra Rowe was crowned champion greenhouse farmer, most innovative farmer, national young champion farmer, and runner up national champion farmer.

Rowe has taken over management of her family’s agro business in Manchester.

The green house farm produces, among other things, strawberries, lettuce, pepper and tomatoes.

Noting that the use of technology has greatly aided in the items produced at her own farm, Ms. Rowe said the days of using hoe and machete are long gone.

Rowe said the best way to get more young people interested in, and involved in, agriculture is to promote new, modern farming methods, and this is the area of help authorities should focus on.

She also noted that young farmers need help with getting suitable land, in order to boost their production capabilities.
