NEPA warns game bird hunters to desist from hunting during curfew and no movement periods

The National Environment and Planning Agency, NEPA is warning game bird hunters to desist from hunting during curfew periods and on no movement days.

The no movement days are Sunday August 22 until to Tuesday August 24; Sunday, August 29 until Tuesday, August 31; and Sunday, September 5.

Director of the Legal and Enforcement Division at NEPA, Morjorn Wallock says hunters are prohibited, from hunting on the no movement days as well as Sundays.

Her comments follow several reports of illegal hunting during the first weekend of the lockdown.

The reports received indicate that hunters were actively hunting after 6pm on Saturday and on Sunday.

According to Ms. Wallock hunters found in breach will be arrested and charged and may be fined and or face imprisonment.

Hunters charged will also be reported to the Firearm Licensing Authority for breaches of the Firearm Act.

The Game Bird Hunting Season commenced on Saturday August 21, 2021 and will end on September 26, 2021.
