Following two national senior netball trials in September and early this month Netball Jamaica has made it clear that it will be going forward with its current squad selected from those trials.

In a release yesterday netball Jamaica said following the completion of the world netball championship in England, where Jamaica finished fifth, it has completed its review and consultations and is now taking steps to ensure better performance in upcoming international tournaments.

The local governing body of netball guided by its selection policy said in the release that a specific invitation was sent directly to all national players who participated at the last WNC 2019, to ensure that players were appropriately updated with the advisory to attend the national trials.

Where there was no response except from one individual to indicate that she would attend, another advisory was sent.

Netball Jamaica said in all, three letters of invitation were sent to all current national players, and there were no positive response to its invitations except for four (4) players who confirmed their unavailability, and another player had asked for and received approval for leave of absence.

The name of the four players who confirmed their unavailability were not released and the other player who asked for a leave of absence was not stated either.

In light of all of this netball Jamaica added that it is moving forward with players who have been selected to form a squad for training to prepare for a reciprocal UK tour previously agreed for January 2020 in England.
